As some of you know, I'm an artistic type. "Maddie" is my Muse. She's been with me for a long time now, and I only recently learned her name! =)
Anyway ... She's been incognito for a bit, allowing me to balance out my life better. But lately, She's been stopping by and dropping off random doses of inspiration.

NEW ART
Check out my DeviantArt Gallery to see what Maddie's been helping me with! Be sure to look in the folders, too - some of my new stuff is in there and not featured.
I have two big art projects I'm going to be working on in the coming months - my Poetic Art which is going to be a series of my poetry put to artistic rendering; and the 14 Song Project, I will be working on a second playlist.

WRITTEN WORDS
I have been putting pen to paper in a completely non-artistic fashion, and I am plotting out a novel! I participate in National Novel Writing Month, which is an international challenge to write a 50,000 word novel in the 30 days of November.
This year (2009) will be my third attempt - and I'm already working on character development, outlining a three layer plot, and functional dialogue. My hope is to have enough of my story pieced together that it just writes itself in November.
Check out the website! It's a lot of fun - especially for anyone who's ever thought "hey, I want to write a novel" but never did!

And I think that's it for this morning's artistic rambling! Until next time ...

Tagged on Facebook
I got "tagged" on Facebook by my aunt, and decided (since I'm bored) to post it here.
... If you read this, then TAG! You're IT! Copy & Paste into your blog (wherever it may be), and change my answers for your own! Then, tag someone else!
TYPE ONLY 1 WORD. IT'S HARDER THAN YOU THINK!!! I wanted to: know more about you, see if you can follow directions and obey the rules, have some fun and see how 'creative' you can be. Enjoy!

Eviction * Dates
Okay, first of all - don't let the title scare you, we're not being evicted. Josh and I have been here for too long, and Wendell (the landlord) is great!
No "Eviction" refers to MySpace, Facebook, and all those other networking places I was at that I was leaving. Well, not leaving, as it turns out. I'm keeping my Facebook account because most of my family is there - and I haven't seen or heard from them in ages! I've also decided to keep my MySpace account for family and friends who aren't on Facebook (there's not many, but a handful). But my LiveJournal is already cancelled; and if you were looking for my writing portfolio, don't waste your time - it's gone, too.
SO, here are some of the places where you CAN find me (beyond BlogSpot):
http://www.myspace.com/jaswalgren79 --> my MySpace (but you have to be on my friends list to see the profile, it's private)
http://www.facebook.com/ --> my Facebook (look for me under my maiden name)
http://www.myspace.com/jleigh_bean --> Jas the Artist (her name is JLeigh Bean, and her profile is public domain)
http://jleighbean.deviantart.com --> Jas the Artist's Gallery (this link will take you to her main profile, clicking on Gallery will let you browse my work)
And if you want to find Josh, he's at: http://www.myspace.com/jdl66441; he's also on Facebook, but you can use my link and just put in his name to find him. =)

So, I mentioned that Josh and I had date plans for Monday night.
His sister showed up around 6PM, and we headed to Manhattan (about 30 miles up the road for those of you who don't know).
We walked around the mall for a little bit - Josh needed new shoes (which we couldn't find), and he bought me two Webkinz pets (stuffed plushie toys that can be played in cyberspace; check out http://www.webkinz.com/ for more info & take the virtual tour, it'll explain it all).
After the mall, we went to dinner at Applebee's - topic of conversation: our daughter - go figure! LOL The one night we have away from her, and she's all we talked about. =)
We drove around for awhile after that, taking the long way home and just enjoying each other's company; before we stopped in at Wal-Mart for some "got to have it in the morning" stuff (breakfast for Lexi & Pepsi for us).
It was nice to get out for awhile. It felt like it had been ages since we'd done that. I think next time, we'll plan for a trip to Topeka - maybe dropping Lexi off with her grandmother for a visit with her. *shrugs* We'll see.

Nothing Testimonials
So I was reading my Aunt's blog, and then my cousin Becky's ... and my oh my, did I laugh! Blog "testimonials" about ... nothing! It's great for me to connect with family again (especially the ones I haven't seen in over 10 years); and in honor of their wackiness, here is my "Nothing Testimonial"!
*** Testimonial ***
Josh came home from work (around 5:30am - he works the 12-14 hour nightshift as a cabbie), I woke up, Alexis woke up. We both went into the living room to see Josh, then Lexi walked back and forth from the living room to the bedroom, carrying the remotes to the TV & DVD player. Josh and Lexi went back to the bedroom, turned on a movie, and went back to sleep; I made a cup of hot tea and started checking all my emails & networking websites.
*** End Testimonial ***
See! Nothing at all exciting!
But now that I've said that ... I'm going on a date tonight! After talking to my mom on Valentine's Day about not having time alone with my husband, I decided I wanted some one-on-one time with him, and set out to make plans.
Josh and I have not really gone out and done anything just the two of us since our honeymoon (late September), and while we spend every morning together, talking about our days and what we've got planned, sometimes it's just not enough. Especially when the Little One cries from the bedroom, wanting company so she can go back to sleep (usually Josh's cue that it's bedtime).
So I called up a good friend of ours to see if we could borrow his truck (Josh drives for a living, so we don't have a car), and then I called up his sister to see if she would mind babysitting. And volia! I have my honey bear all to myself for a couple of hours! We still haven't decided what we're going to do - dinner and a movie was my idea, or going out and shooting billiards (we haven't done that in a LONG time - I was pregnant with Lexi last time I went out - like 18 months ago!) - but nothing's been decided.

Reluctant Tennants
Okay, so now that the notices have been signed, sealed, and delivered, there are residents who are protesting! I sort of figured that would happen, but what I didn't count on was the force of them. I have several people on MySpace and Facebook telling me not to leave!
So I'm lost! I don't know what to do.
I do know that I'm going to keep this going. Not everyone who reads this here is on MySpace or Facebook (and some that are, don't necessarily keep those up-to-date). I've already put too much time and energy into this corner of cyberspace, no need to sign the deed over already!
Anyway, there's not much else going on in this humble abode. Lexi had her first pb&j sandwich today, and did really well with it too - not hardly a mess made! I was impressed. She's also big into sharing - despite not being around kids her age (and no, my mental state does NOT count -lol). She's been handing me one toy to play with, and then when I put it down, she picks it back up again and puts it back in my hands - it's so cute. Especially when she starts to squeal about it! =)
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
Josh is working tonight. =( Taking other couples around town on their dates, while his wife and baby sit at home and watch movies and play games until bedtime. But I guess we've made the most of our first Valentine's as a married couple - we've both spent a lot of money on gifts that are scattered throughout the house (a key & heart-shaped lock sit on our bookcase, and an overstuffed teddy bear has taken up permenant residency on my couch!), and the little one even got a few stuffed animals this year, too! And we all got cards and chocolate!
But I hear the alarm clock going off - time for Josh to get up out of bed; and time for me to get off the computer for the time being.
Until my next exciting news break ...

Moving Out Notices
Signed, dated, and delivered!
I posted a bulletin on MySpace (one of them, anyway), letting everyone know I was leaving; and you can't imagine how good it felt! Like a weight had been lifted off my chest, and I was allowed to breathe again. *deep sigh*
I also went onto Facebook and basically said "I'm tired of this place", but left it at that. I have a lot of family on Facebook, and I want them to be able to find me here. But I have to give us all time to process the move.
LiveJournal didn't put up a fight when I signed my notice. I didn't really expect them to; I don't know anyone there. And the online writing portfolio I usually keep is no longer available, either - I haven't written anything in it since ... well, since I had Lexi, so over a year now.
Okay, so that's all for now.

Hi World!
I've been out of touch with it (the world) for so long, I decided it might be time to come back to it.
I've been to so many other "places", it's ridiculous - MySpace (times two!), LiveJournal, Facebook! And all of them are ... scary. LiveJournal is lonely because no one talks to me & I don't know anyone there; MySpace has a bunch of crazy people who "stalk" me (friends who never comment or message me); and Facebook - OMG! So many friends & family to connect with, but too dang long to load up any given application, and no real way to let anyone know what's going on in my world!
So maybe this corner of cyberspace will have the house I'm looking for - with room for my family gatherings (and it had better be big because there are a lot of us!), space for my arts & crafts, and just a spot for me to be me.
Here's hoping! *crosses fingers*
